CWC Meeting 17 May 2009

Resolution - I

This meeting of the CWC, thanks the people of the country, for the clear mandate, the party has received, from them in the 2009, Lok Sabha elections. While expressing its sincerest gratitude, the CWC is conscious of the new responsibilities that have been placed on the Indian National Congress and of the new hopes and aspirations that have been aroused by the mandate. It pledges to fulfill the promises that have been included in our party's manifesto. It also pledges to fulfill the promises made during our campaign. The mandate of 2009 is demonstrably different than the mandates received in the previous elections during the past decade and a half. It- is a mandate for strengthening the foundations of secularism and forging ahead on the path of faster and more inclusive growth. It is also a mandate for a national party with a national outlook to tackle the challenges at the national level while at the same time being sensitive to regional and local aspirations.

It is a mandate for the Prime Ministership of Dr Manmohan Singh. The 2009 verdict is a verdict for continuing the policies implemented by the Congress - led UPA Government with its primary focus on the welfare and the well-being of the aam admi spurred by high economic growth. The Indian National Congress views with humility the extent and nature of the extraordinary support it has received from the people across the country and from all sections of society. It is determined to ensure that the trust and confidence placed in it is fulfilled in demonstrable and visible manner.
