Press Briefing Friday, 29 May 2009

Shri Janardan Dwivedi addressed the media today.

Shri Janardan Dwivedi, sharing the dais with Shri Motilal Vohraji and Shri Abhishek Manu Singhvi, said that the primary aim of the press briefing today was to thank the media fraternity. He said that the recently held elections were a challenge not only for the political parties across the board but also the media fraternity. He further said that it was likely that during the elections there might have been occasions when the media might have felt disappointed and moments when political parties might have fallen short of their expectations. Notwithstanding this, he reminded the media and political parties share a relationship and this relationship should be maintained. He once again thanked the media fraternity not only on the behalf of the media department but also on behalf of the entire Congress party and the AICC.

Shri Janardan Dwivedi said that the previous UPA government had fulfilled all its promises and he hoped that this time too no stone would be left unturned in fulfilling all the promises made to the people of India. He said that those who have been entrusted with party responsibilities would work to strengthen the organization. He informed the media that by December 2010 the Congress party’s organizational elections would be held.

To a question on whether persons entrusted with party work and had been inducted in government would continue to look after the party work, Shri Janardan Dwivedi said that while one could not commit anything in this regard, attempts would be made to have a bifurcation between those who are doing party work and those who are a part of the government
