Born in a martial KSHATRIYA community of Chark Clan in Jammu in 1942. With a long and cherished history of services of many ancestors in the cause of the country, my father, Thakur Maluk Singh Charak too had a glorious chapter in the Army. After elementary educaton, at my native place, I graduated from Jammu & Kashmir University with additional B.Ed. degree as well. From the very beginning of my student life, I nursed secular outlook with deep rooted conviction of communal amity, brotherhood and compassion for the poor and needy. During my student career, I upheld the genuine aspirations of the students and often represented the same with the higher authorities.
Being a true Congressman, have fully involved myself in propagating and carrying out the policies and programmes of the Party as per the directions of our dynamic leader, Hon’ble Smt. Sonia Gandhi.
