At a function held at the AICC Headquarters, 24 Akbar Road, in the presence of the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and practically the entire leadership of the Congress Party who had gathered from all the States, Shri Oscar Fernandes, the Chairman of the Central Election Authority of the Congress Party, declared that Smt. Sonia Gandhi had been unanimously elected the President of Indian National Congress. He read out the Certificate of Election and handed it over to her.
